Does abortion cause breast cancer?Contrary to rumors, there is inadequate evidence to prove that having an abortion will lead to breast cancer. The theory behind it is that in the first trimester of pregnancy, estrogen level rise especially in breast tissue in preparation for milk production. If the pregnancy is terminated during this time, the estrogen levels are still very high thus putting the woman at risk for breast cancer. Forty independently published studies on abortion and breast cancer found no evidence of risk.
